  1. As usual you did an amazing job on your post this week! As you mentioned on my page we did have the same local story, however, you approached it from the angle of after the crime. Considering you did your story after mine you were looking at articles focusing on the cash bond. I read articles about it, but I focused primarily on the event initially and then just touched on the bond at the end.

As always your selection for top news stories is on point and your reasoning is perfect! Well done!

  2. Amanda-

It was interesting to see how many people can do the same story because of the proximity and breaking news aspect, and how differently it can be written. You did a good job of writing the story in your style which made it unique from others. Also, I liked how you did a follow up from the Brussel bombing story, which is important to keep readers informed and up to date if it hasn't already been closed.

    1. I agree, Alexander. We often hear about tragic stories, such as the bombings in Brussels, but then the rest of the story goes unheard. I thought it was important for us to know that the process is still ongoing, and even after months, there are still many questions that go unanswered.

  3. Amanda,

You always write so clearly, and precisely. Very well done. I chose the Hobart case as my top local story as well. It's such an engrossing story with what seems to be a brutal crime of passion at the center. I think it was also very newsworthy because the suspect they have in custody was deemed to be a danger to society based on his previous arrest record so I think people will be greatly relieved he is not on the loose anymore.

    1. I agree. It's so sad; however, the community can rest easy knowing the man is not able to harm others.

  4. There were a few errors here or there, nothing a good final edit wouldn't catch. None of the stories you used this week were stories I used...and that is good! I did not hear about the local murder but that is a story that would draw eyes. It has impact on the local community. Ali is a national/internationally know figure so his story is one people would be interested in. The bombing suspect would also draw many people in.
